The desk frame is built from solid oak, prized for its open, flecked grain and warm golden tone. The four legs are turned by hand to a slim profile with a gentle bead near the foot, and the shallow drawer sits on hand-fitted wooden runners so it opens and closes smoothly rather than sliding loosely. A single cast-brass pull, tumbled to a soft patina, sits centered on the drawer front.
The writing surface is sanded by hand to a silky flatness and finished with several thin coats of hand-rubbed linseed oil, which protects the oak while keeping its natural warmth. We borrow the proportions from early twentieth-century country desks, keeping the desktop narrow enough to read as furniture rather than a toy, and every piece is finished in small batches so the grain you see is its own.
